Birth Doulas

what is a birth doula?

a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a family before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

“If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.” — Dr. John Kennell

Childbirth can be an exhilarating, exciting time; it can also be a confusing and overwhelming time. Before, during and after childbirth, we provide continuous, individualized attention that supports the emotional and physical well-being of families.

As labor progresses, the calming presence of a doula can help ease your discomfort and anxiety about labor, reducing your need for medication, induction, cesarean birth and increasing your satisfaction with your birth experience.

  • 2 prenatal visits

  • 24/7 on-call availability in the weeks surrounding your due date

  • Accompany you to one care provider/O.B. appointment (if you wish)

  • Continuous labor support at your home, birth center and/or hospital

  • Encouragement, information and reassurance from early active labor through birth and breastfeeding

  • Baby’s first photos

  • 1 postpartum visit to help you process your birth story, check in with how you and your family are adjusting and help you access any resources that might be needed
